The United States signed a participation contract for Expo 2030 Riyadh on October 30, formalizing its commitment to take part in the exhibition. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud met on the sidelines of the G20 ministerial in Atlanta, Georgia. Rubio described the signing as an initial step toward preparing an American pavilion in the Saudi capital. He said participation would provide a way to showcase the United States and create commercial opportunities for American businesses. “This is an opportunity to strengthen our bilateral relationship with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” Rubio said. Faisal thanked Rubio for supporting the exhibition and welcomed the planned U.S. pavilion. The contract follows an August 25 agreement between Saudi Arabia and the Bureau International des Expositions in Paris. That earlier agreement established privileges and conditions for participants, and the bureau described it as a precursor to individual participation contracts. More than 135 countries had confirmed participation as of August 25, according to the bureau. Saudi Arabia was selected to host the exhibition in November 2023, and the bureau formally registered it in June 2025. Expo 2030 Riyadh is scheduled to run from October 1, 2030, to March 31, 2031, under the theme “Foresight for Tomorrow.”
