Perth Court Grants Bail to Woman Accused of Stalking Senator Jordon Steele-John

A 40-year-old woman accused of stalking Western Australian Greens senator Jordon Steele-John was granted bail in Perth Magistrates Court on November 5. She faces charges of aggravated stalking with intent to intimidate and demanding property by written threats. Her release required a surety of A$5,000. Magistrate Clare Stanyer prohibited the woman from contacting Steele-John or coming within 100 metres of him, his home or his workplace. She also ordered the woman to hand over her passport within 48 hours. “You must surrender any passport in your possession to the WA police station within 48 hours,” Stanyer told her. The magistrate suppressed the woman's identity because of an ongoing matter. Her next court appearance is scheduled for February 25. The charges remain allegations, and the bail decision does not determine whether she committed the alleged offences. Separately, Steele-John took parliamentary leave in October amid misconduct allegations, which he denies. The WA Greens have commissioned an independent investigation by Modern Legal, led by Alison Humphry and overseen by Sarah McLeod. In a November 3 announcement, the party set a deadline of 10am AWST on Wednesday November 11, 2026, for confidential submissions to that investigation.
