Barry Scores Twice as Everton Beats Coventry 3–1 and Moves Fifth
Everton came from behind to beat Coventry City 3–1 at Hill Dickinson Stadium in Liverpool on November 6, with Thierno Barry scoring twice and setting up the final goal. The Premier League victory moved Everton into fifth place before the remaining weekend fixtures and extended their winning run to three matches. Frank Lampard’s Coventry took the lead in the 52nd minute when Yann Gboho combined with Tatsuhiro Sakamoto and beat Jordan Pickford. Barry equalized four minutes later, heading Vitalii Mykolenko’s cross from the left into the bottom-right corner. Just after the hour, he met Tyrique George’s cross and squeezed the ball over the line off his midriff. Barry then supplied Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who finished past Carl Rushworth nine minutes from time to complete the comeback. The two goals took Barry’s total across all competitions this season to 10. Barry said afterward, “I want to stay like this and score lots of goals this season.” He said he was happy with his brace and that the team had arrived determined to win. The result marked David Moyes’ 592nd match in charge of Everton, equalling Harry Catterick’s club managerial record. Everton’s third victory in nine days came as the club also reached the Carabao Cup quarter-finals. The team now enters the international break with the league win and Moyes’ milestone secured.
