Coalition Says It Downed Two Houthi Missiles Toward Najran and a Drone Over Makkah
The Saudi-led coalition said on November 6 that it intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles launched by the Houthis toward Najran. In a separate statement later that day, the coalition reported intercepting and destroying a drone in the Makkah region. Its drone announcement did not identify the operator. Coalition spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Malki said debris fell following the missile interception. “Debris fell as a result of the interception, and damage is being assessed,” the spokesperson said. The statement described the assessment as ongoing; it did not provide a final account of the damage. The announcements followed another reported interception on November 5. In that statement, Al-Malki said coalition forces had destroyed a Houthi ballistic missile directed toward the Madinah region. That earlier incident concerned a different destination from the missiles reported toward Najran on November 6. Qatar’s Foreign Ministry condemned the November 5 attempt to target Madinah, saying it endangered civilians and violated Saudi sovereignty and international law. In its statement dated November 5, the ministry affirmed solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for legitimate measures to protect its sovereignty, security, territorial integrity and interests. Qatar described Saudi security as integral to its own security and to collective Gulf Cooperation Council security.
