ALYN Charity Ride Reports NIS 7.1 Million Raised Ahead of November 8 Opening
Organizers of ALYN Hospital’s Wheels of Love charity ride reported on November 7 that about NIS 7.1 million had been raised toward a NIS 7.3 million target. The fundraising supports the Jerusalem hospital’s rehabilitation treatments for children and adolescents with serious injuries, illnesses and complex disabilities. The 27th edition is expected to bring hundreds of cyclists from Israel and abroad on a roughly 500-kilometer route from Eilat to Jerusalem. The event is due to begin on November 8 and finish at the hospital. Rotem Gafinovitz, who represented Israel at the Paris 2024 Olympics, and Guy Niv, the first Israeli to finish the Tour de France, are among the participating cyclists. Niv said, “We ride to help children go further.” The reported total remains below the organizers’ fundraising goal. Dozens of current or former ALYN patients are also taking part, including members of the hospital’s Swift and Bold cycling team. Some began riding during rehabilitation. Participants use bicycles, handcycles or tandems with volunteers according to their abilities. At the closing ceremony in Jerusalem, children are due to welcome the riders and present medals designed by Hadar Rivak.
