Explosion Sounds Reported on Qeshm Island and Iran’s Southern Coast
Iranian media reported explosion sounds on Qeshm Island and in the coastal city of Jask in Hormozgan province on Saturday evening, November 7. Initial accounts described two sounds on the eastern side of Qeshm. The reports did not establish their cause, precise locations, casualties or damage. A correspondent for Iranian state television also reported explosion-like sounds in Sirik and Bandar Abbas. The correspondent suggested they might be connected to Iranian armed forces’ activity around the Strait of Hormuz, but said the explanation remained unclear and precise information from official authorities was still awaited. That suggestion was not a confirmed account of what happened. Local and provincial sources had not supplied details in the initial reporting. An early report about Jask briefly included a claim of official confirmation of an impact at a military location, then removed that confirmation. The changing account did not establish that a military site had been struck. The reports followed a separate incident on Friday evening, when Iranian media reported explosions and two projectiles in Qeshm’s Suza area. Hours later, U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed a limited American attack on an Iranian air-defense system. No verified connection between that earlier incident and Saturday evening’s reported sounds was established.
