Pnina Aronov Wins Israel’s First Senior Women’s MMA World Gold
Pnina Aronov has won Israel’s first senior women’s gold at the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation world championships in Tbilisi, Georgia. The Israeli MMA Federation announced the achievement on November 7, reporting that she had finished the tournament with five victories in five bouts, including three wins by submission. The federation called the result “a huge moment for Israeli MMA.” Its account emphasized the demands of weighing in and returning to fight each day, alongside Aronov’s performances in the cage. The gold followed a tournament run in which she won every bout she contested, according to the Israeli federation’s announcement. The federation credited Aronov’s coach, Vicky Davush, and the Next Gen club for their part in the achievement. It also thanked her brothers Rafi and Eli Aronov, both senior MMA fighters, and the rest of her family for their support behind the scenes. Olga Rubin and Roni Gilgur were in her corner throughout the championship. The announcement also acknowledged federation president and national teams head Ido Pariente, and Ayelet’s support for the Israeli team. In the final, Aronov defeated a Czech opponent by a third-round kimura submission in the senior women’s 56.7 kg category. Her other two tournament wins came by unanimous decision, including the semifinal against a Russian opponent. Israel’s squad at the championships consisted of 15 male and female fighters.
