Like the war in Iran, the Administration has shown a lack of planning or strategy with the war in Yemen and the potential consequences affecting U.S. interests both in the region and at home. Unfortunately, the Trump Administration made the decision to eliminate the position of Yemen Special Envoy, empowering the Houthis and their terrorist proxies and undermining efforts to civilians in Yemen safe. We need that voice and expertise to help navigate the complexities of the region and facilitate a path toward peace.
I unequivocally condemn Itamar Ben-Gvir’s vile and dehumanizing comments saying Palestinians are “not even people,” advocating for the killing of 30 to 40 people every night, and calling for Jewish settlement of Gaza. As I have said before, Ben-Gvir must be removed immediately. My full statement.
The Eastern Mediterranean plays a vital role in connecting India, the Middle East, and Europe. @RepGusBilirakis and I led a bipartisan group of colleagues urging Secretary Rubio to prioritize the Great Sea Interconnector to continue to strengthen this critical link. Security and stability in the Eastern Med must remain a top focus.
