Netanyahu's Office Rebukes Macron Over Hamas Claim at UN

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office rebuked French President Emmanuel Macron after he said at the UN General Assembly that Hamas had never been very active in the West Bank. In an English-language statement, the office called that assertion a grotesque absurdity and said a Hamas attacker killed Netanel Shukrun, a French citizen and father of six, on the eve of Yom Kippur. Macron made the remark while criticizing Israeli conduct in the territory and reaffirmed France's commitment to Israel's security.
