HaEmek Trial Finds PTSD Symptoms Fell in 80% of Participating Soldiers

HaEmek Medical Center reported that 80% of soldiers in its MDMA-assisted psychotherapy study experienced significant, lasting reductions in military-trauma symptoms, with most no longer meeting PTSD diagnostic criteria after treatment. The research is being conducted with Clalit Health Services and Reichman University for veterans whose earlier conventional treatment did not help. Participants receive intensive individual and group psychotherapy, with MDMA administered only in supervised research sessions. Investigators said the substance is a therapeutic tool rather than a stand-alone treatment, remains illegal outside authorized research, and can cause harm when used without medical and psychological supervision.
