Israel and Ecuador Sign Counterterrorism and Economic Cooperation Agreements

Ecuador and Israel signed two bilateral instruments at Ecuador's Foreign Ministry in Quito, the first covering counterterrorism cooperation through information exchange, institutional coordination and capacity building, and the second a joint declaration creating an Expanded Economic Dialogue on trade, investment, cybersecurity, innovation and technology. President Daniel Noboa received Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar at the Palacio de Carondelet, where Sa'ar said Ecuador is a friendly country and that Israel wants to contribute in economic sectors and in the fight against terrorism. Sa'ar is the first Israeli foreign minister to visit Ecuador in 44 years. The two ministers also agreed to open negotiations toward a free trade agreement.
