Solberg Bars Parties From Receiving Real-Time Voter Check-In Data

Central Elections Committee chair Justice Noam Solberg ruled that polling-station committee members and party observers may not report in real time which voters have arrived and voted. He found that a person’s participation, voting time and polling-station type are private information, and that election law gives party representatives no authority to relay those details for campaign use. Likud, Shas, United Torah Judaism and Religious Zionism argued the practice was lawful; Solberg rejected their position. He said using check-in data to identify and mobilize voters who have not arrived violates the purpose for which representatives see it and therefore breaches privacy law.
