Israel Opens First Resident Embassy in Slovenia

Israel opened its first resident embassy in Slovenia during Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar’s visit to Ljubljana, the first by an Israeli foreign minister in 16 years. Sa’ar and Slovenian Foreign Minister Tone Kajzer also signed a 2026–2030 cooperation program covering education, science, culture, youth and sport. The program offers up to five one-year postgraduate scholarships for Slovenian students and a combined 27 scholarship-months for Israeli students. More than 50 business and institutional representatives attended a bilateral forum as both governments sought to deepen political and economic ties.
