Levin Gives Shin Bet Final Say on Security for Party Leaders

Justice Minister Yariv Levin transferred decisions on security for party leaders who do not hold state office to the Shin Bet after other members of the ministerial committee overseeing the agency did not attend a scheduled meeting. The committee was due to decide whether such leaders should receive protection until the 26th Knesset is sworn in. The issue arose after requests involving Gadi Eisenkot and Yair Golan, and a public committee had earlier recommended protecting Eisenkot through election day. The Shin Bet will now determine the security response for each relevant leader.
