U.S. House Passes Iran War Powers Resolution in 220-204 Vote

The U.S. House approved H.Con.Res.93 by 220-204, directing the president under the War Powers Resolution to remove U.S. armed forces from hostilities with Iran. The official roll call recorded 7 Republicans and 213 Democrats in favor, while 203 Republicans and 1 independent opposed; 9 members did not vote. The measure exempts forces needed to defend the United States or an ally or partner from imminent attack when statutory reporting requirements are met. Its directive also would not apply if Congress authorizes action through a declaration of war or a specific authorization for use of military force against Iran.
