Congress Blocks Vote on Israel Military-Funding Cut
U.S. House leaders blocked a floor vote on Rep. Thomas Massie's H.R. 8595 amendment that would have barred funds in the national-security appropriations bill from being used for Israel and cut Foreign Military Financing by $3.3 billion. The official amendment text carried the blunt heading "No Funds for Israel," while the earlier House Rules report had listed it as made in order for 10 minutes of debate. JPost reports Rep. Ro Khanna said Congress blocked the vote after Democratic debate, and one Democrat said the language was poorly drafted because it could also hit diplomatic funding. The outcome preserves vital U.S.-Israel security cooperation while Iran and its proxies keep testing America's closest Middle Eastern ally.
