Iran Warns Israel and US Before Khamenei Funeral
Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters used preparations for Ali Khamenei's state funeral to warn Israel and the United States against any attack on Iran. Reuters-carried reports at Al-Monitor and Straits Times, plus Iran International and The New Region, identify commander Ali Abdollahi as saying Iran's armed forces would deliver harsh retaliation for any threat or aggression, while funeral events are scheduled from July 4 in Tehran through a July 9 burial in Mashhad, with ceremonies in Qom and Iraq. The warning follows Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz saying Mojtaba Khamenei was marked for death after Tehran's threats. Israel should read the pageantry plainly: the regime is using mourning to rebuild deterrence, and Israeli freedom of action against nuclear, missile and proxy threats must remain intact.
