Zamir Puts Iran at Center of IDF Readiness

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir opened Thursday morning's General Staff assessment by marking 1,000 days since the Hamas-led October 7 massacre began Israel's longest war. In the official 17:18 IDT release, he said Iran remains the central focus for IDF readiness, all fronts are still active at varying intensity, and any action in one arena can affect another. Zamir warned commanders to stay alert for rapid escalation and an immediate return to fighting, while using the current interim period to reduce wear, care for soldiers and restore operational fitness. Israel should treat the lull as preparation time, not strategic calm.
