Zamir Says Soldiers Must Come First After Torah Bill

Times of Israel carried at 18:15 IDT the IDF statement that Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir told a General Staff assessment that soldiers and commanders in mandatory, career and reserve service are Israel's most important resource. The official 17:18 IDT IDF post said they should be first in state decisions and resources for their care, families and future. The remarks followed the coalition's advance of Basic Law: Torah Study and came as Zamir marked 1,000 days since the Hamas-led October 7 massacre. Israel should honor Torah learning and traditional observance while also putting wartime service, recovery and readiness first.
