Citizen Lab Links Pegasus Hack to Former EU Spyware Investigator

Citizen Lab's first-party forensic report, published at 11:02 IDT, found that former Greek MEP Stelios Kouloglou, who served on the European Parliament's PEGA spyware committee, was hacked with NSO Group's Pegasus while the committee investigated spyware abuse. Citizen Lab says infections occurred in October 2022 and March 2023 and could have exposed confidential parliamentary deliberations, but it did not identify the customer and found no indication Greece was responsible. NSO did not respond to requests for comment. Israeli cyber exports are meant for lawful security missions; alleged misuse by unnamed foreign operators is a reason for tighter licensing, end-user controls and democratic accountability, not for blanket attacks on Israel's technology sector.
