Civil Service Won't Discipline Zini Over Shin Bet Letter

Ynet reported at 17:57 IDT that the Civil Service Commission discipline unit told Shin Bet chief David Zini that his wife should not have sent a Passover letter to employees or their wives, but accepted the Shin Bet position and decided not to open disciplinary proceedings. Haaretz reported the same outcome, saying the commission pointed Zini to public-service rules while Shin Bet called the letter part of a longstanding family-contact tradition. Channel 13 background said it drew criticism from the agency's gender-equality officer and former women employees because it omitted women serving in Shin Bet. Israel can honor security families and traditional Jewish language while keeping public systems professional and recognizing women who serve the country.
