Ghalibaf Says Iran and Oman Agreed on Hormuz Navigation Mechanism

Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said at 10:12 IDT that Tehran and Muscat had reached an understanding on a Strait of Hormuz navigation mechanism under clause 5 of the U.S.-Iran memorandum. Oman's official joint statement says the sides agreed only to keep dialogue through a foreign-ministry working group on future navigation administration, services and costs, while reaffirming safe passage under international law. The dispute sits inside the wider U.S.-Iran pressure track: Oman has floated voluntary service-fee ideas, Tehran wants route control, and Iran's command has threatened tankers that bypass Iranian-approved lanes.
