Khamenei Lies in State as Tehran Funeral Week Begins

Ali Khamenei's body lay in state in Tehran's Imam Khomeini Mosalla on Friday at 16:56 IDT as Iran opened a week of mass funeral ceremonies. The official Khamenei site lists farewell ceremonies in Tehran on July 4-5, a Tehran procession July 6, Qom rites July 7 and burial in Mashhad on July 9. Coffins for Khamenei and relatives killed with him were displayed at the Mosalla, with foreign dignitaries and officials attending. For Israel, the message is simple: keep deterrence, bring home hostages and stop Tehran's proxies from rebuilding.
