Oct. 7 Terror Trials Not Expected Before 2028

Israel's special prosecution track for the Hamas-led October 7 massacre is advancing at 15:42 IDT, but first trials are not expected before 2028 under the current working assumption. The Atarot complex in northern Jerusalem is planned for nine courtrooms and up to 15 panels, while prosecutors still need case files transferred, evidence organized and a victim-and-witness system built around about 12,000 potential witnesses. The Defense Ministry's official June approval allocates more than NIS 1 billion for 2026-2029 for court, prosecution, IDF command, staffing, secure transport, communications and broadcasting infrastructure.
