Police Find 36 Grenades in Jerusalem Home Weapons Cache
Israel Police posted at 14:44 IDT that Moria station detectives and military police found a large weapons cache in a Jerusalem home while searching for a suspected deserter in his 20s. Police said a smoke grenade prompted a wider search by Border Police dogs and Jerusalem bomb-disposal officers, uncovering 36 grenades, including 18 fragmentation grenades, demolition blocks, a Kalashnikov, a hunting rifle, explosive-device assembly materials, ammunition belts and combat gear in bedrooms and a playroom. The homeowner, in his 50s, was arrested and his detention was extended until Monday. Ynet reported he claimed the gear belonged to his soldier son, while police warned that battlefield weapons leaking into apartments can serve criminal or terror use and endanger residents.
