Israeli AI Describes Protein Functions

Technion and Tel Aviv University researchers developed BetaDescribe, an AI system that converts protein sequences into natural-language descriptions of their functions and characteristics. According to the Technion release and PubMed abstract for the PNAS paper, the model can describe function, catalytic activity, metabolic roles, subcellular localization and domains, and can help study proteins with little similarity to known examples. The team demonstrated it on six previously uncharacterized proteins. Israel's universities keep turning deep science into practical tools for medicine, biotechnology and materials research.
