Government Extends Haredi Kindergarten Funding Reporting Deadline

The government on July 5 approved a change to the funding model for subsidized private Haredi kindergartens, extending the reporting window for teacher seniority and education data through the end of 2026. The move was previewed on July 4, with the earlier proposal surfacing on June 29 after pressure from Haredi education networks and coalition leaders. The decision prevents an immediate retroactive offset to higher funding, even though only a minority of kindergartens had submitted complete data. The state should support Torah education and veteran teachers while insisting that public funds rest on clear reporting and stable coalition discipline.
