Qalibaf Says Iran Will Not Recognize Israel in Hamas Meeting

Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf met Hamas political-bureau leadership council chief Mohammad Darwish on July 5 during Tehran's Khamenei farewell events. Qalibaf said Iran has no peace with America and will not recognize Israel, and claimed help to the so-called resistance can come through missiles or diplomatic pressure. Darwish called the Islamabad understanding with the United States a victory for Iran and the resistance front. The meeting shows Tehran and Hamas trying to turn diplomacy into pressure on Israel; Jerusalem should answer with deterrence, U.S. coordination and no illusions about Hamas or its Iranian sponsor.
