Sydney Synagogue Worshippers Threatened With Imitation Gun
Israeli and Australian reports said two men, ages 22 and 25, were arrested in Sydney after an imitation firearm was allegedly pointed from a vehicle at Jews outside Chabad Double Bay during Shabbat. Nine reported police were called to the Kiaora Road synagogue at 12:10 p.m. Saturday, tracked the vehicle to Kings Cross and seized the imitation pistol as more than a dozen officers made the arrests. Israel Hayom reported no one was hurt and that police were still taking witness statements. For Diaspora Jews, this is another reminder that visible Jewish worship needs firm policing and public solidarity after Australia's recent antisemitic terror wave.
