Coalition Updates Draft-Arrest Freeze Bill Through November 30
Fresh same-hour reporting says the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee published an updated version of the bill freezing arrest, investigation and enforcement proceedings for yeshiva students who did not report for service. The prior committee draft available on the Knesset site used a 90-day temporary order; the new text reportedly runs for five months, through November 30. The practical gap may be limited because laws expiring near a Knesset dissolution can be extended automatically into the next Knesset. Politically, the update keeps the coalition's Haredi draft compromise alive while Israel balances IDF manpower needs with respect for Torah study.
