Araghchi Arrives in Oman as Hormuz Talks Open

Abbas Araghchi arrived in Muscat on Saturday, where Omani officials welcomed the Iranian foreign minister for talks on bilateral ties and regional issues. Iranian state reporting said the situation in the Strait of Hormuz was among the issues set for discussion, after Washington and Tehran traded attacks over two days following Iranian attacks on three commercial vessels in the waterway. The arrival turned an earlier planned Oman visit into an active diplomatic round as the Pakistan-brokered U.S.-Iran memorandum remains under strain. The talks matter to Israel and regional partners because the same Hormuz dispute has already involved attacks on commercial shipping and renewed fire near Gulf routes.
