Yeshiva Tax Dispute Delays Benefits Vote for 247 Nonprofits

The Knesset Finance Committee postponed a Monday vote on Section 46 tax-credit eligibility for 247 nonprofits after Haredi lawmakers objected to the removal of yeshivas from the proposed list. United Torah Judaism members said they would oppose the entire package while a High Court petition over the yeshivas' eligibility remains pending, prompting committee chair Hanoch Milwidsky to pull the item. The delay also affects organizations supporting hostage families, bereaved families, wounded soldiers and Haredi troops. MK Moshe Gafni challenged the Tax Authority's authority to exclude Torah institutions and called for a full committee discussion before any such change.
