Gafni Demands Draft-Arrest Freeze Before Any Other Knesset Legislation

MK Moshe Gafni said Monday night that he would not support any coalition legislation in the Knesset plenum until the temporary bill freezing arrests of qualifying yeshiva and kollel students passes. Haredi factions demanded that coalition chairman Ofir Katz schedule the measure before every other bill, amid doubts over support from Religious Zionism. The arrest-freeze proposal had already cleared the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee for final readings. The demand escalated a coalition dispute over the final legislative agenda, while the parties awaited Katz’s decision on which measure would reach the plenum next.
