Parties and NGOs Petition High Court Against Draft-Arrest Freeze

Yesh Atid, Yisrael Beytenu, the Movement for Quality Government and Israel Hofsheet petitioned the High Court on Tuesday immediately after the Knesset approved a five-month pause on draft-related arrests for eligible full-time yeshiva students. The filings ask the court to strike down the law and issue interim orders halting its implementation. Petitioners argue the measure creates unequal criminal-enforcement treatment between Haredi students and other Israelis who do not report for service. The law passed 58-54 and is scheduled to run through November 30, subject to study declarations and inspections.
