U.S. Military Rejects Iran's Strait Tanker-Explosion Claim

U.S. Central Command rejected Iran's claim that two oil tankers exploded and caught fire after entering a mined route in the Strait of Hormuz. The Iranian military had announced the alleged incident early Saturday but provided no ship names, precise locations or supporting evidence. CENTCOM said the report was false and described it as typical of claims by Iran's Revolutionary Guards. The denial came as the United States and Iran traded strikes across the region and commercial traffic through the strategic waterway remained sharply reduced.
