U.S. Sends More Fighter Jets to Middle East Amid Iran War

The United States is sending additional fighter aircraft to the Middle East as renewed fighting with Iran intensifies. Reports identify F-16s from the 480th Fighter Squadron at Spangdahlem Air Base in Germany and F-35s from the 48th Fighter Wing at RAF Lakenheath in Britain among the aircraft deploying. Flight trackers recorded at least 12 F-16s heading toward Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, although it remained unclear whether they represented a net increase or routine rotation. Aerial refueling tankers were also moving toward the region as U.S. forces continued strikes on Iranian military targets.
