Ashdod Man Indicted for Wife's Murder With Wine Bottle

Southern District prosecutors filed a murder indictment in Beersheba District Court against Michael Alfovitz, 66, of Ashdod. Prosecutors allege that during an argument over household chores, he repeatedly struck his wife in the head with a wine bottle, causing skull fractures and fatal nervous-system damage. The indictment says he did not summon medical help after she stopped breathing and left her body in their apartment for two days. It says he then called the couple's daughter and son-in-law and told them he had hurt her and that she was gone.
