U.S. Senate Blocks Bid to Halt Trump's Iran Campaign

The U.S. Senate voted 49-47 on Thursday to block a Democratic-led resolution that would have required President Donald Trump to halt military action against Iran unless Congress authorized it. The decision came shortly after the House approved a parallel war-powers resolution 214-208, with four Republicans joining Democrats. Most Republican lawmakers in both chambers backed continued presidential authority over the campaign. Joint U.S.-Israeli strikes began the war in February; a ceasefire reached in April broke down this month as American attacks resumed.
