A fire at the Rabbeinu HaGadol complex in Hadiach, Ukraine, caused millions of dollars in damage and largely destroyed the main synagogue near the resting place of Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi, founder of Chabad Hasidism. The blaze also damaged the kitchen, guest facilities and central hospitality complex, while local firefighters worked for hours to contain it. No injuries were reported, and Rabbi Shneur Zalman Deitsch and his family are safe. Ukrainian police opened an investigation; an electrical short circuit is among the possibilities under examination, but the cause remains undetermined.
