Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of firefighters and red fire engines battling flames at an industrial building as thick black smoke rises over the Sderot factory complex

A large fire broke out Monday morning at the Strauss and Tapugan factories in Sderot’s industrial zone, sending a thick column of black smoke over the area. Flames burned sheds and warehouses as dozens of Fire and Rescue vehicles deployed to contain the blaze and protect nearby structures. The entire industrial zone was evacuated after an ammonia leak, while residents of nearby neighborhoods were instructed to remain indoors and close their windows. There were no reported injuries in the initial response, and crews continued working to gain control of the fire.
