Young Girl in Serious Condition After Choking on Grape in Jerusalem

A young girl in Jerusalem's Ramot neighborhood was hospitalized in serious condition Tuesday after choking on a whole grape at home. Emergency crews found her unconscious and without a pulse or breathing, then performed extended resuscitation and removed the grape from her airway. Her heartbeat returned, and she was taken to Shaare Zedek Medical Center sedated and ventilated. Reports differed on whether she was three or four years old, but agreed on the location, the choking, the resuscitation, the restored pulse and her serious condition.
