Iran Denies Final Hormuz Deal, Says Strait Will Remain Closed

A source close to Iran’s negotiating team said reports of a new agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz were false and that no agreement had been reached. An Iranian military source said the strait would remain closed while the United States continued what Tehran called hostile actions. The source said vessels would be allowed through only via a pre-announced route and with approval from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy. The denial followed President Donald Trump’s statement that Israel had joined a U.S. commitment to pursue a deal opening Hormuz and ending Iran’s nuclear threat.
