Director Avi Nesher’s “Our Loves,” an ensemble drama about seven characters whose lives intersect during Hamas’s October 7, 2023 attack, was selected for the Toronto International Film Festival’s Centrepiece program. TIFF lists the Israeli-U.S. production among ten world premieres in a 54-film slate representing 50 countries. The film has also received 12 Ophir Award nominations, including best picture, director, screenplay and cinematography, and is scheduled to open in Israeli theaters on September 3. Its Toronto selection comes as Israeli filmmakers report cultural-boycott pressure, while the festival’s 51st edition is scheduled for September 10-20.
