UEFA Orders Maccabi Tel Aviv's Next Home Match Behind Closed Doors

UEFA’s Appeals Body ordered Maccabi Tel Aviv to play its next home match in European competition behind closed doors and fined the club €40,000. The sanction followed the lighting of pyrotechnics during Maccabi’s 1–0 Europa League qualifying victory over Sheriff Tiraspol on July 30. UEFA identified the matter as a violation of Article 16(2)(c) of its Disciplinary Regulations, which covers the lighting of fireworks or other objects. The decision was published on August 3 and applies to the next UEFA club competition match in which Maccabi acts as host.
