Trump and Qatar's Emir Discuss De-escalating U.S.-Iran Tensions

U.S. President Donald Trump and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani discussed efforts to reduce U.S.-Iran tensions in a phone call on Tuesday. Qatar’s official readout said they sought to narrow remaining differences and improve the chances of a sustainable diplomatic settlement. Trump praised Qatar’s role in supporting diplomacy and facilitating dialogue, while Sheikh Tamim urged continued talks and compliance with the June memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran. The two leaders also agreed to keep coordinating on regional and international developments and issues of shared interest.
