Amsalem Says Eisenkot Would Be Welcome in Likud

Likud Minister Dudi Amsalem said in a Wednesday interview that he would be glad to see Gadi Eisenkot join Likud if the Yashar chairman adopted the party's positions. Amsalem said Eisenkot's background made Likud a natural home and that he would personally help him advance in the party. National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir rejected that assessment, calling Eisenkot a clear left-wing figure and warning against a broad unity government after the election. Eisenkot has not announced a move to Likud, and Amsalem's remarks described a hypothetical future decision.
