Iran Says Khamenei and Pezeshkian Discussed Military and Economic Issues

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of Masoud Pezeshkian seated with one hand near his face beside Mojtaba Khamenei in a black turban and clerical robes, rendered in warm ochre and slate-blue pastel strokes.

State-linked Iranian media said President Masoud Pezeshkian met Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei as Pezeshkian began his third year in office. The reports said they discussed wartime conditions, military developments, household needs, energy and management of rial and foreign-currency resources. They also reviewed economic ties with foreign partners, but announced no decisions, meeting date or location. Khamenei succeeded his father after Ali Khamenei was killed in the February 28 opening strike by Israel and the United States; his appearances since then have largely been limited to written statements carried by Iranian state media.
