State Sues Halamish Over 1,314 Tel Aviv Public-Housing Apartments

State prosecutors filed a Tel Aviv District Court lawsuit on behalf of the Housing Ministry seeking a declaration that the state owns rights to about 1,314 public-housing apartments managed by Halamish. The claim says the state financed about 99% of the capital used to acquire the homes, built, purchased, or financed from 1961 through the early 1980s, despite their registration under the government-municipal company. Prosecutors also seek repayment of tens of millions of shekels, including about NIS 50.8 million they allege Halamish improperly retained.
