Hezbollah Verification Force Participants Remain Undecided, U.S. Official Says

A U.S. official said no countries have been finalized for a proposed mechanism to verify the disarmament of Iran-backed Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, and negotiations remain open. Britain, Italy, Switzerland and Indonesia are under consideration following U.S.-mediated Israeli-Lebanese talks held in Rome last week. Possible roles include defining the mechanism's authority, supplying oversight personnel and participating in weapons inspections. British and Swiss officials indicated readiness to support de-escalation and stabilization, while a source familiar with the discussions described them as early but cautiously optimistic under a framework linking Israeli withdrawal to verified Hezbollah disarmament.
