Strong Summer Rain and Flash Floods Forecast for Israel This Weekend

High-resolution Israel Meteorological Service models forecast unusually strong summer rain and possible stream flooding this weekend. Temperatures are expected to fall to seasonal levels Friday, with light rain possible in the north, along the coast and over northern and central hills. Locally stronger rain is forecast mainly Saturday afternoon across the Golan Heights, Jordan Valley, Dead Sea area, Judean Desert and northern Arava. Local rain may continue in northern and eastern Israel on Sunday, with isolated thunderstorms possible in the east, while detailed official warnings are expected as the forecast is refined.
